FALL... in love.

my kinda eye candy :) this kaleidescope of autumn colors against the bright blue sky was too beautiful not to share! after a scenic trip via the old loggin' roads in north country to visit a friend, i got to spend an afternoon digging culverts... who knew dora the explora was also bob the builder!? hah. yes, any excuse to spend outside is fine by me; heavy machinery is a plus!

finally making waves - spring is here!

the homies and i... out on the water for the first time this season, just in time for the walleye opener! and it's only just begun! not only that, but where else can you bet on sighting bald eagles? i heart the northwoods, oh yes i do! ;D

a weekend adventure in lac du flambeau!

autumn in northcentral wisconsin is definitely one of my favorite times and places to breathe in during the year! the cool and crisp temperatures, changing colors of the landscape and silent sound of the seasons clicking… there really isn’t anything more peaceful.

the crystal clear lakes and bald eagle sightings are just other treasures in our beautiful state that the average resident takes for granted. i'm blessed to live a life i love!

valentines day just passed and although we planned to spend the day setting tip ups, we instead got stuck in the snow on the ice trying to get out there and spent all afternoon trying to shovel out the truck instead... atleast we made it on time to our dinner reservations! lols.

...like the seasons change in wisconsin, so do we as individuals. when it's hot and humid, we wish it were cooler; when it's sub-zero and snowing, we wish it were warmer. and while we do what we can in anticipation, we are never quite prepared enough for its reality once it hits.

icefishing in central wisconsin.

these lakeside sunsets and amazing central wisconsin views are half the reason i brave the cold to icefish and spend time on the hard water. and living up to its reputation, it's been an insanely brutal winter with recent windchills reaching the depths of neptune here... so it's only natural that a heated shanty is sensibly the only other reason icefishing hasn't been too much of a drag! haha. well, that, and the fact that i enjoy taking the sled out exploring the river when fishing gets a little slow.

imagine... pants parties with M & N, eazy e in the tape deck, and jim beam to keep warm with :) oh, and i can't forget about the random games of scrabble to pass by the time too! nothing sums up this winter more accurately. <3

a beautiful day to celebrate may!

the weather has been absolutely beautiful lately; aside from that snowthat came out of no where the other week! and newfound friends invited me over for a nice little dinner of baked adobo chicken, steamed carrots, homemade challah and a delicious tear apart spiced bread... and it was also a perfect evening to be able to be under the blue skies while enjoying a glass of pinot and a refreshing watermelontini blend. mmm.

from their sweet little porch, we were also eye-level with a dove that recently settled into the abandoned nest that sat on their tree in the front yard. definitely looking forward to seeing more of her..!

and as if all this weren't lovely enough... the hannahs also bade me farewell with the cutest little upcycled "vase" including fresh flowers from their gardens that was an absolute treat to wake up to this morning, too :) indeed, what a great way to enjoy the first day of may!

snow in the springtime!?

...just when it seemed like spring was finally here to stay and my tulips were beginning to bloom, snow makes a surprise appearance once again. is this the last of it... or a foreshadow of what's yet to come? i love the midwest and our 4 seasons... but come on! you're just blending my seasons all together now! lols, jk.

another weekend in cornucopia, wisconsin with my favorite people! unwinding, fishing and taking in the wonderful landscape of the greatest of the great lakes. oh, the stillness and sense of peace i find in the northwoods :) this is lake superior... beach bonfires were how we undressed our evenings and consumed the darkness while the sun woke us with warm kisses. <3

i wanna touch the earth...

we might not have palm trees, deserts, canyons, redwoods, sandy beaches and all that jazz... but i do whole-heartedly love the northwoods here in wisconsin! the seasons. smell of petrichor in the fall while soaking in the dynamic colors. the rivers, lakes and trees. the history. the character. the appreciation for simplicity... nothing short of absolutely oh'mazing!

what a nice weekend it was up north for my best friend's 28th birthday! i can't believe it's been 14 years since the day we forged our friendship... and to think about everything we've gone through together since then, i couldn't have asked for a better partner in crime and kindred spirit to share in those experiences with! cheers to growing older together and many more memories!

the five of us roadtripped up to the beautiful little town of bayfield and took the island princess ferry  out to tour the apostle islands. i definitely want to make it back here sometime to specifically explore the sea caves!

we stayed at our usual cabin in cornucopia - wisconsin's renowned northern most point - where the largest of the great lakes was our front yard. so even though all you need sometimes is a quaint getaway with a few close friends, being able to enjoy a cozy bonfire on a wisconsin beach while watching the superior sunset is just an added bonus!

we even squeezed in an adventure hiking to "lost" creek falls before heading back home, so birthday girl could cross that off her list... and what a morning that was, haha. after missing the turn, the 1 hour hike turned into a 4 hour adventure! lols. but it's true what they say; getting lost is just an opportunity to explore!
